For the past couple of years, attending an exhibition to support our clients was definitely off the cards. More recently, with Covid restrictions lifted, we’ve seen the return of trade shows.

So in some ways, it still seems unusual to be reporting our attendance at an overseas event. It’s not. What is unusual is visiting a show in Germany in one day. We’ve done it before and it’s a long day. But it can be done and it’s an effective way to support our client, meet key members of the client’s team as well as trade media contacts, and gauge the health of the industry.

This year’s SMT Connect show (an event focused on suppliers to the electronics manufacturing sector) in Nuremberg was quiet at first but livened up later. It was deemed a successful and worthwhile event by our client Europlacer – a global business that’s growing rapidly.

One small personal advantage of the only flight home being late in the evening is the opportunity to get out into the city once the show closed. Nuremberg is the second-largest city in the German state of Bavaria and is steeped in history that dates back to the Middle Ages. It is a very pleasant place indeed.
